👶 BABY ROLLING PATTERNS 👶

BABY ROLLING is a GREAT way to IMPROVE movements that facilitate not only rotation of the trunk but flexion and extension patterns. It also involves reciprocal movements of the upper and lower quarters consistent with the coordination, motor planning and stability needed by babies as they transition to crawling and then standing and walking.

WATCH CLOSELY the film of my baby daughter Madi doing the oculomotor reflex movement that we all do when we do a functional activity that involves targeted reaching or targeted movement. As she begins to initiate her rolling, whether front to back or back to front, you will see her eyes and her head initiate the movement a split second before her body starts the motion. And that eye and head movement continue as she completes the motion of rolling.

BABY ROLLING is one of the first complex movement skills we learn and is a vital part of our motor development.

BABY ROLLING is a NeuroKinetX (NKX) Movement Pattern that combines use of the upper extremities, spinal/abdominal core, pelvic floor, and lower extremities in a manner that facilitates and optimizes neuromotor movement patterns as the Central Nervous System matures. The rolling pattern facilitates a neurological reset to RESOLVE movement dysfunction and asymmetries of the upper quarter, core, and lower quarter.
